Theoretically my lineup should be a killer. Statistically, it should be kick-ass.

Unfortunately, I throw the ball, they hit the ball (a lot).
I hit the ball, they catch the ball (even more).

Wish I had a solution.

I do know where there are some goats. Is a midnight sacrifice in order?

And so it goes.
Talk to me ...
Ol' Guyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16377591281307256310noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12821713.post-22450296380666394062014-05-20T23:19:00.002-04:002014-05-20T23:19:48.640-04:00Dead wrongHey, I've got an idea.
Spent an hour this evening wandering through random personal blogs and came to the following conclusion, which is undoubtably wrong but still what I found:
The personal blog, while not dead, is not in a real healthy state. On the endangered list to be sure.
What I found:
-lots of mediocre artists trying to sell mediocre art
-lots of mediocre poets posting mediocre poetry
-lots of people trying to sell other kinds of assorted junk
-a few personal blogs recounting family happenings
-lots of foreign-language blogs which, being a typical ugly American, I couldn't understand
-very little political and/or personal commentary
-very few posts of general interest.

And for better or worse, this blog also pretty much falls into a few of the above categories.

My old mind used to devour blogs which presented ideas, opinions, rants and political diatribe.

I found little or none of that.

Sad.

And so it goes.
Talk to me ...
Ol' Guyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16377591281307256310noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12821713.post-35466232128488510902014-02-18T18:06:00.001-05:002014-02-18T18:31:39.857-05:00Kiddiecure, anyone?Only in Naples:

The decision to give parents 3 weeks to convince telecommunications giant Sprint to move the tower was just a sucker move. It was never gonna happen. From the Naples Daily News:

After the Collier County School District gave an organized coalition of parents and community members three weeks to work with service provider Sprint to come to an agreement on moving the tower away from homes and farther from the school’s entrance, Sprint sent a letter declining to move the 75 foot tower.

A Tuesday night school board vote formalized what was expected — the tower would not be moved.

Raise your hand if you're surprised.

Homeowners in the area held out hope, but it wasn't gonna happen. The deal was done and once the tower went up; it wasn't gonna be undone.

Whether or not the school board snookered the public the entire time is open for debate. But the deal was passed, the contract was signed and Sprint's gonna be giving the school district a buttload of money for the right to place the tower there.

Which I hope means lower taxes. (Ha! At least it might not mean too much higher taxes).

Sorry Ponciana folks. You tried.

But you didn't stand a chance.

And so it goes

Are the drug companies behind it? Big health care? Whose money is pushingg it? You know there's a lot of money somewhere.

Who?

Why?

What?

Why do they not want to see everyone have health insurance and health care?
Just doesn't make any sense.
Unless it's all about Obama hate.

You gotta admire the Naples School Board.

They sure suckered the Ponciana School/ Coach House Lane parents.

The parents want the cellphone tower removed from the Poncianna School parking lot.

Unfortunately, the school board signed a contract with Sprint. A contract they most likely can't get out of for hundreds of thousands of dollars. And the school board doesn't want to break the contract. They LIKE the money they get from Sprint. Plus, they really can't afford to move the tower on their own, even if they wanted to. Which they don't.

Their solution?

The magnanimous board allowed the parents 3 weeks to contact Sprint and convince them to move the cell tower.

Good luck.

"Hello, Sprint. Uh, I'm a parent of a Poncianna School student. I'd like you to move the cellphone tower because although there's no proof, the tower just could be a health hazard to my kid. Yeah, Sprint, just move it away. You can afford it, right?"

You just KNOW that's gonna work, don't you?

3 weeks.

Suckered.

And so it goes.
Talk to me ...
Ol' Guyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16377591281307256310noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12821713.post-87826633134713581202013-10-19T22:03:00.001-04:002013-10-19T22:03:26.671-04:00Can someone 'splain to me how parents feel they DESERVE after school programs for their children to be largely paid for and run by the school district?

Just exactly what does AFTER SCHOOL mean?

When the schools are done teaching, they become babysitters?

And I'm paying for this?

And the parents are mad because they don't get the exact free/subsidized babysitting program they want.

At taxpayer expense?

When did we get into the babysitting business?

OK school board, act.

If the parents aren't happy with the existing programs, get rid of them. You're under no obligation to run school AFTER school.

Babysitting IS NOT a right.

And so it goes.

And please, don't confuse Mormonism with Christianity. Christ never told a bunch of weirdo polygamists to start creating more saints. In fact, if you read the REAL Bible, he warned against just such nutjobs.

And so it goes.
Talk to me ...
Ol' Guyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16377591281307256310noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12821713.post-26007087297095352522012-10-05T20:29:00.001-04:002012-10-05T20:29:39.699-04:00Walter MittyJust spend a couple fun hours listening (ignoring) a co-worker tell everyone within earshot that the election is over and Mitt has won because of the way Mitt whipped Obama's ass in the first debate.

Glad that's over. Now we don't even have to vote.

If GG says it's so, IT IS SO.

However, last Saturday, the same co-worker spend a couple hours lecturing about how the U.S. had the Ryder Cup wrapped up and couldn't possibly lose.

(The same co-worker also told us 4 years ago that McCain had it wrapped up. Now he's saying McCain was to old, not smart enough and not likable enough...)

There ARE 2 more debates, of course, which is plenty enough time to expose the 27 documented lies Mitty told in the first debate.

And most polls still show Mitty trailing.

Ignore the man behind the curtain.

And so it goes.
Sorry.
I've been a bad, bad blogger.

I just finished ignoring the first presidential debate.
I already know who I'm gonna vote for. I know why I'm gonna vote that way.

After 18 months of nonstop negative political campaigning, it really worries me that there might be some troglodytes out there who areundecided.

How can that happen?

How long have you lived under that rock?

Given that there are about 5 undecideds left, what is the point of the debates? Does anyone really believe either candidate is gonna melt down on live TV? Is either guy gonna score a knockout?

Therefore, what is the purpose of the debates?

And so it goes.

Interesting there was not one person of color in the entire assemblage. (Shock).

Interesting there was not one person under age 75 in the entire assemblage. (Shock).

Interesting there was not one person who ever had to worry about paying the rent or paying for groceries or wondering where they were gonna get health care in the entire assemblage. (Shock).

Just what is in those tea bags, anyway?
“When you look at unbalanced people, how they respond to the vitriol that comes out of certain mouths about tearing down the government. The anger, the hatred, the bigotry that goes on in this country is getting to be outrageous,” he said. “And unfortunately, Arizona, I think, has become the capital. We have become the mecca for prejudice and bigotry.”
Giffords expressed similar concern, even before the shooting. In an interview after her office was vandalized, she referred to the animosity against her by conservatives, including Sarah Palin’s decision to list Giffords’ seat as one of the top “targets” in the midterm elections.
“For example, we’re on Sarah Palin’s targeted list, but the thing is, that the way that she has it depicted has the crosshairs of a gun sight over our district. When people do that, they have to realize that there are consequences to that action,” Giffords said in an interview with MSNBC.
In the hours after the shooting, Palin issued a statement in which she expressed her “sincere condolences” to the family of Giffords and the other victims.
During his campaign effort to unseat Giffords in November, Republican challenger Jesse Kelly held fundraisers where he urged supporters to help remove Giffords from office by joining him to shoot a fully loaded M-16 rifle. Kelly is a former Marine who served in Iraq and was pictured on his website in military gear holding his automatic weapon and promoting the event.

Still.

I don't believe I have ever witnessed a statewide coronation more elaborate or unnecessary than that of King Rick Scott, first King of Florida.

Presidents don't make that big a deal about their inauguration.

But this wasn't an inauguration. It clearly was a coronation. Suppose if he makes such a big deal, people will forget about Shifty Rick's dubious past?
Republicans used a procedural maneuver Wednesday to try to amend the $4.5 billion bill, which would give more needy children the opportunity to eat free lunches at school and make those lunches healthier.

Let children starve. We rich Rupugnicants gotta get our tax cuts. Save a little money so we can head to Paris for dinner. Or a snack.
The tea baggers must be so proud.
And so it goes.

Are blogs dead?

Have they been replaced by social media like Facebook and Twitter?

Are blogs a thing of the 90s which has outlived its usefulness?

Does anyone care?

And so it goes.
Talk to me ...
Ol' Guyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16377591281307256310noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12821713.post-175600172115273942010-11-03T00:22:00.002-04:002010-11-03T00:24:31.854-04:00Dis and datJust a few election night observations

- Apparently being unqualified is a qualifying attribute to too many voters.

- A lot of good people got swept away in Tuesday's tea bag ignorance.

- Remember, in nearly every off-year election the party out of power makes gains. Usually at least one house of Congress changes hands. So don't go calling it a revolution, especially since the Dems kept the Senate.

- It makes me SO happy that we continue to have an absentee U.S. Representative. Wasn't aware that Southern California was in Collier County. Wonder if Connie even knows where Collier County is?

- Apparently many tea bags contain hallucinogens.

- An awful lot of voters seemed content to bring in garbage and throw out the quality.

- Could be that the upper class is taking back THEIR AMERICA, at the expense of the rest of us.

- Is the Florida governorship REALLY worth what, $50 million of your own money?

- Do any of you REALLY believe any of this is going to make any difference?

- Just drink your koolade and shut up, OK?

And so it goes.
Talk to me ...
Ol' Guyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16377591281307256310noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12821713.post-49530028250189434582010-10-19T16:11:00.002-04:002010-10-20T06:17:42.583-04:00Another cup of tea?A tea party candidate demonstrates her knowledge of the Constitution. <blogspot>
</blogspot>

WILMINGTON, Del. – Republican Senate nominee Christine O'Donnell of Delaware on Tuesday questioned whether the Constitution calls for a separation of church and state, appearing to disagree or not know that the First Amendment bars the government from establishing religion.
The exchange came in a debate before an audience of legal scholars and law students at Widener University Law School, as O'Donnell criticized Democratic nominee Chris Coons' position that teaching creationism in public school would violate the First Amendment by promoting religious doctrine.
And <blogspot> </blogspot>

"Where in the Constitution is the separation of church and state?" O'Donnell asked, a statement that drew laughter from the audience. When Coons returned to the topic a few minutes later, he said her comment "reveals her fundamental misunderstanding of what our Constitution is."
"The First Amendment establishes the separation, the fact that the federal government shall not establish religion," Coons said.
"The First Amendment does?" O'Donnell interrupted. "You're telling me that the separation of church and state is found in the First Amendment?"
When Coons summarized the amendment as saying government shall make no law establishing religion, O'Donnell interrupted again: "That's in the First Amendment?"

What surprises me is this doesn't really surprise me.

Just another example of tea party genius.

And so it goes.
Talk to me ...
Ol' Guyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16377591281307256310noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12821713.post-13882745011927875932010-10-02T22:55:00.000-04:002010-10-02T22:55:57.566-04:00Party of dumbI see a whole bunch of old rich white folks lined up along a street in Naples today to protest the government spending money on anything that doesn't directly impact them.

If you saw the pictures, you'll notice not a single person of color, either black or hispanic/latino, and not a single disabled person in the crowd. The only children are those that grandma has dragged along to hold a sign insulting President Obama. The kid doesn't know what the sign means, but it's kids who get their picture taken.

The protest, in effect, is that right now the government is not treating rich folks and rich corporations with the respect and deference they had come to expect from the previous administration.

The shame. I'm rich. Pander to me!

There's another undercurrent that the rich white folks know of but cannot speak about except in 'code.' They're appalled that there's a n*****r in the White House.

It's the Whirte House because, obviously it's reserved for whites.

Doncha know.

And so it goes.
Talk to me ...
Ol' Guyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16377591281307256310noreply@blogger.com0
